C’est en 1940 que le Teddy est apparu au USA. D’abord signe d’appartenance aux prestigieux campus américains, cette veste à la coupe large, aux manches en cuir, au corps en laine, avec une lettre brodée sur le coeur a commencé à se démocratiser en se réinventant, et ce désormais en affichant des coupes plus cintrées et des matières diverses.
C’est à cette tendance que nous intéressons aujourd’hui dans notre PetiteMaisonCouture. Comme vous pouvez le voir, j’ai tenté moi aussi de jouer avec ce modèle en utilisant un tissu à motif imprimé, un imprimé comment dire… très imprimé! Ça tombait bien, mon amie Caro adore le Wax. Alors quand vient le moment de coudre pour elle, c’est de la pure joie! Prenant en considération la tendance actuelle, les tissus que j’avais à ma disposition, la calorimétrie personnelle de mon amie, et bien sur le fait qu’elle soit une femme de style (=intemporalité) j’ai tout de suite penché pour un Teddy sur la base du patron Donnez-moi un M de Aime comme Marie Voici les 2 modifications majeures apportées: 1. Manches raccourcies pour en faire un vêtement facilement portable en été, et sous un manteau en hivers. 2. Ajout d’une doublure avec une poche passepoilée intégrée à la doublure, suffisamment grande pour y glisser son téléphone portable, sa CB, et son gloss!
Je trouve que ce Teddy lui va parfaitement, comme quoi le wax qui est taggué « Black fashion » sied à tous, il suffit de tons de couleurs qui nous flattent le teint.
The Varsity jacket trend
It’s in the 40’s that the Varsity jacket appeared for the first time in the US. With its leather sleeves and woolen bodice, it’s large cut and it embroidered letter on the heart, this jacket was a sign that one belongs to one of the country’s prestigious universities. Little by little this jacket started becoming like a trend as it became more and more accessible. The cuts and designs also started changing creating more fitted versions for women.
Today in our PetiteMaisonCouture, I have also tried to play with this trend using a printed fabric, kind of really printed! Actually my friend Caro’s birthday was coming, and one thing I know is that she loves African prints. So I usually have a global Idea of her birthday presents, but I am never 100% sure of the form this present would take. So taking into account the current fashion trends, her personal colorimetric shades, and the fabrics that I had in my stash, I immediately went for this teddy pattern based Aime comme Marie’s Teddy jacket. I Therefore cut my pattern in size 36, and used a light whool fabric for the collar. Here are the main modifications I made: 1. Shortening the sleeves. 2. Adding a lining with a welt pocket cut in the lining for her phone, her credit card and her gloss!
I think that the fabric used here brings out the blues of her eyes and her blond hair. African prints are often tagged as « black fashion », but in reality it can suit every single person. One needs to choose the type of colors that flatters the skin tone, hair and eyes.
