A system to hang my 2 pairs of scissors...
Not to mention the tablet-sized compartment
Including a compartment for my tablet
I wanted my own too!
Almost all French sewing bloggers have made this weekend bag, for which the tutorial was shared by Aime comme Marie here. So… it’s not that I’m waking up too late. It’s just that this bag meant absolutely nothing to me, then one day I swore by it!
I was even more motivated by this bag because I was looking for a bag to put my sewing machine and all my little gear in for my sewing afternoons with friends. It took me a while to find the ideal fabric, but a quick trip to Tissu Market (my new paradise on earth) and RrrAAAHH!!! I found this red/plum drill denim fabric, depending on the light. But problem: The remaining fabric on the roll was not enough.
I absolutely wanted to make this bag in my drill denim, so I reduced the dimensions (main panels 42x43cm instead of 43x65cm) and cut the bag bottom from a fabric of a similar color.
A small detail that makes it a must: the shiny leather finishes.
Another version coming soon in a glazed linen.
I love sewing and creating so much! đ
I also wanted my version of the Aime comme Marie weekend bag!
Almost every single French sewing blogger had a version of this bag (Aime comme Marie tutorial here – please do not hesitate to let me know should you need any help regarding to the French instructions). The tutorial has been on the Internet for about 2 years, however this bag did not mean anything to me. Then suddenly one day I totally fell for it! (please don’t ask me why!).
I was even more eager to sew this bag as I urgently needed a case to carry my Mac and all my sewing material for my sewing meet-ups. I spent quite a long time finding the fabric, then one day at Tissu Market (my new favorite shop in town) I fell on this beautiful jeans fabric, called here Drill jeans. But the remaining fabric did not seem to be enough. “No worries” I said to myself “sew it or die”. I therefore had to adjust my fabric, meaning reducing it’s size (42x43cm rather than 43x65cm) and using a different but similar fabric for the base of the bag.
A little detail that adds the main touch: the shiny leather pieces.
Another version is coming in some technical glossy linen fabric.
I soooo love sewing and creating! đ
