The Olivia dress

here’s a post that will surely please those who are getting started with sewing. An easy but effective project that will charm you with its simple and practical side, vintage yet versatile. I had already spotted this cut several times at American Apparel for a price that was far from affordable. So I don’t know if I should understand the girls who invest 12 hourly minimum wages for a basic cotton dress with an elastic at the waist, or rather feel sorry for them… But one thing is certain: learning to sew is one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life!

So for me the Olivia dress from Style Arc patterns is just perfect. First because with 1.5 m of fabric for a size 6 or 8, this dress is yours. Then it’s an easy level; so the time for pattern assembly + sewing is easily done in 3-4 hours (and I may even be overestimating). Finally, it can really be worn anywhere, it all depends on the type of fabric you choose.

Here I made my dress in a tonal viscose that my dear friend from Marseille got me at the Plaine market in Marseille. Unfortunately when I washed it I didn’t know it had to be washed in cold water… So it lost almost all its color (originally it was eggplant with colored dots including beige dots)… I really liked it.
Anyway. What does this dress inspire you? Any style/color combination ideas to share? In any case, if this pattern isn’t on your ToDo list, I highly recommend getting it. Very practical for a last-minute gift sewing project or even for yourself.
I hope you enjoyed this post. Oh I almost forgot: I’m preparing a giveaway on Instagram to win a Wax piece that I will design myself starting from a basic pattern. So if you don’t have an Instagram account and this giveaway interests you, sign up for the app!

Hola my lovely chicks. Here is a post that beginners will love. a super easy project that will charm you because of it’s easy sewing, and the fact that it’s a practical wardrobe item. I have many times seen this dress at the American Vintage shop but the prices just knocked me down. I do not know if I should understand or I should be crying for those girls who invest 12 hourly wages or more into a simple cotton dress with an elastic at the waist… But one thing I’m sure about is that learning how to sew is one of the best decisions I have taken in my entire life.

For me the Olivia dress from Style Arc patterns is a super pattern that can be used or twisted for all your style requirements. This pattern will fit in 1.5 meters of fabric for a size 6 or 8 or even 10! The second point is that this pattern is as easy to make as saying “hello”. From pattern assembling to the last stitch, 3 to 4 hours should be sufficient.

I made my dress in a viscose fabric. Unfortunately when I washed it I did not know that lukewarm water would make it lose all its color. Can you imagine that the purple was deep almost black and that there were white dots among the other dots. Hmmm writing this makes me sad lol. But I was so determined to sew this dress using this fabric that nothing could stop me.
So how do you like it? I sincerely believe that no matter what a woman’s style may be, she must have this pattern in her pattern stock or list, while waiting to have time to sew it.
Oh I almost forgot: In a couple of weeks I will be organizing a giveaway based on an attire I will be designing from an ethnic fabric from me to you. This will be an Instagram giveaway so if you are not yet on Instagram, make sure to sign up!
