Being able to sew for Jade is one of the best opportunities life has given me. I often tell myself that I started sewing at just the right time to be skilled enough today to make clothes for my daughter, born in 2019.
When I found out I was pregnant with a girl, I scoured every Liberty London fabric I could find to choose the perfect print to sew her mainly a sleeping bag and little blouses (from 6 months on). With lockdown, going to shops to hunt for Liberty was no longer easy, and I was delighted to discover that Minerva had a wonderful selection of Liberty fabrics for sale. I immediately jumped at the opportunity and ordered 3 beautiful pieces that I’ll be showing you in the posts throughout January. This one is the Liberty London Tana Cotton Lawn Fabric in the color Jade (like my daughter’s name!).

I find Liberty beautiful even on its own, but this time I tried using cotton lace ribbon to add a bit more dimension and depth to this little outfit. For the pattern, I used the bodice from the ruffled romper by Citronille (from the book Les intemporels pour bébés – Tome 2) to which I added a gathered rectangle. To determine the width of the rectangle, I multiplied the bodice width x 2. 1 meter of fabric was enough for this project.
