Gérard – le manteau

Me revoilà cette fois-ci pour vous mettre en scène un Gérard totalement à poil dans les rues de Montreuil. Eh oui! ce grand classique des patrons République du chiffon était sur ma ToDo depuis longtemps, mais je voulais quelque chose qui changeait un peu de ce que j’avais pu voir chez les coupines bloggeuses.Pour le tissu, c’est un coup de Grâce: Une laine qui date de presque 20 ans! Il avait été acheté en 1996 par ma cops Andromeda à Soho à Londres. Il y quelques semaines, Andro m’a dit  qu’elle faisait une vente de tissus car devant s’alléger avant son déménagement. Je suis donc rentrée (entre autres…) avec cette laine. Et la j’ai dit: « Toi, tu t’appelleras Gérard ».

Donc voilà mon Gérard violet, que je porte avec une tenue noire et sobre (je suis rarement habillée en noir).  J’ai choisi de ne pas ajouter de boutons. Peut être que j’en rajouterai, peut être pas… bref j’sais pas.  

Here I am again, introducing you this time to my Gérard coat.
This hit, brought to us by Republique du chiffon patterns, was on my ToDo list for a long time however I was forever longing for a different look and style for my version, different from the beautiful versions I had seen so far.
The fabric, is a real ‘coup de Grace’: Actually this fabric is 18 years old! It was bought back in 1996′ by my friend Andromeda in Soho, London. Adro told me a few weeks ago that she would be selling her fabrics as she was changing flats.  Of course I went to the sale, and I came back amongst others, with this piece of wool. I said to myself: « As for you, your name will be Gérard ».
 
So here is my purple Gérard, that I am wearing with a simple back jeans and top (I rarely dress in black). No buttons were added, I might add some, or not… we’ll see.

Ah ouiii! j’oubliais le détail dans le col (je pensais mettre un passepoil, puis la paresse d’aller jusqu’à la mercerie s’en est mêlée, et ça a fini  en biais… lol!) .  Et puis, la petite griffe dans le dos, un petit « kiff » personnel que je rajoute maintenant à TOUT! C’est comme ma petite touche de designer finale ^^.

Ohh I should not forget to show you the details in the collar (I was about to use piping, then I was gained by laziness… the supply store suddenly seemed to be very far away, it all ended with me using some bias tape I had at home lol!). I also added a stylish little label at the back. I now add this type of labelling on EVERYTHING! It’s like my little designing finishing touch ^^.

Au fait, j’ai profité de la nouvelle saison pour mettre de l’ordre dans ma garde-robe et faire de la place pour les nouveaux arrivants de la saison. C’était un vrai challenge car il n’y a juste plus de place chez moi, et le problème est que j’aime toutes mes affaires :-/ .  Il a donc fallu, trouver une règle, une règle qui statuerait sur le sort de chaque vêtement  (oui j’en suis la!), en clair: « Qui reste? Qui sort? ». En cherchant des idées de gauche à droite, j’ai fini par mettre en place ceci:

Je profite pour faire un coucou spécial à tous ceux qui ont souscrit au blog cette semaine, je pense notamment à Ariane, Christine, Mandinef, Michel, Rubita, Charlotte, Brigitte, Pascale, Mar, et Bérénice.

By the way I took advantage of the new season to put a little order in my wardrobe, and make some space for new arrivals. It was a true challenge as I have no more space to fit a single thing at my place. The true problem is that I love all my clothes. I therefore had to find a rule, some kind of questionnaire that will help me determine what will stay or leave. So after looking for hints back and forth, I ended up with this list of questions. Depending on the (honest) answers, the attire would either stay in the closet, or leave! Try this out, it really works well. You might decide to remove or add questions, depending on your priorities for your wardrobe.
