So I’m running around a bit in every direction and I’m super stressed about making my dress (what was I thinking?!! but it’s too late to turn back now). However, in all this rush, I really wanted to come and talk to you about my ruffled shirt and give you a few ideas to help you make your own.

I had actually been looking for a ruffled shirt for a while. To make it, I had to find a good base: that is to say, a shirt pattern that would suit me. So I went with the “chemise aux trois cols” by Louis et Antoinette for its volume—not too wide, not too narrow—and its measurements, which I find just right.

Once I found the shirt pattern, I had to think about the modification to nicely integrate the ruffles. Here is how I proceeded: I also extended the ruffles into the back following the same principle as the front modification. The back line can be cut in a straight line.

I like wearing my shirt tucked into jeans, like here, for a casual chic look. In case you’re wondering, yes, I cut the hem of my jeans to give them more character without making them extravagant.

The fabric is from Tissu Market.

Yes I know it has been a long time… Those of you who follow me on Instagram might know that I am currently preparing my wedding, so I am all over the place and super stressed especially with the sewing of my wedding dress. I however wanted to stop here and show you my new (handmade of course) shirt with ruffles and bring a few ideas to you in order to help you achieve it.

I have been wanting to make a shirt with ruffles for a while now. In order to do so, I had to find a good pattern base. I chose the chemise aux trois cols by Louis et Antoinette. This pattern is just perfect as it is not too large not too narrow.

Once I found the pattern of the top, I started thinking about the alterations I had to make to include the ruffles. Here is how I went about:

(see drawing)

I also took the ruffles all the way to the back by following the same principle as the front and cutting a straight line.

How do you like this shirt? I like wearing it with a pair of jeans for a chic yet easy style.
