As usual, I made a few small changes to remix the garment my way (yes! I have a clear idea of what I want :D), because I was afraid the original pattern would give me a bit of a granny look… Anyway! The changes I made are as follows: Cuff button plackets removed, front opening removed, sleeves adjusted. I think the little blue bow tie (removable) adds a superb touch to the garment.

Fabric choice: I was absolutely determined to make a fairly loose dress with a houndstooth fabric. So I made a quick trip one lunchtime to the 18th arrondissement to look for a fabric that would work. I came across this fairly lightweight 100% wool fabric, but not too light either. To be honest I wasn’t super satisfied because I was looking for larger checks. This fabric ended up in my bag, somewhat reluctantly. The price: 3 meters for 45 euros.

Construction: Simple. Really very simple. The little bow tie was made without sewing, with a glue gun (the easy solution). But it’s possible to sew it by machine or by hand. I made a removable bow, not because I intend to wear the dress without the bow tie, but because I also plan to wear it with different bow ties.

~~~~~~~~~~
The result: Flawless! I might have wanted it to be a tiny bit longer, but well… it works this way too. I wear it mostly in autumn and winter with blue or burgundy tights depending on the color of the bow, and high heels (otherwise granny effect guaranteed!). It’s comfortable. It’s a really simple cut and design, plus I think it looks like a little designer dress 🙂
________________________________________________________________________________
[English]
This dress is based on pattern #128 (Belted tunic) from the 01/2010 Burda Magazine.
[Burda image]
As usual I made a few adjustments in order to transform slightly the dress to suit my taste. To be honest I was afraid to look like a granny in this dress. Hahaha!!! The changes I made are the following: I did not consider adding the “cuffs”, no front opening, sleeves adjusted. The little blue bow (removable) brings a little sophisticated touch to the dress.
About the fabric: For some time now, I have been wanting a dress made out of a Houndstooth fabric. I run a quick errand one day at my lunch break to look for a fabric that could match my project and fell on this 100% light wool fabric. To be honest I was not that satisfied with what I found as I was looking for a bigger square patterns. Anyway the fabric ended up grudgingly in my bag. The price: 3 meters for 45 euros.
About the realization: Simple. In fact very simple. The bow was made with a glue gun, I could also have sewn it with my sewing machine or by hand. I preferred a removable bow not because I intend wearing the dress without a bow, but because I also intend to wear the dress with different bows.
~~~~~~~~~~

The result: Flawless! Feeling at ease in it! I would have loved it to be slightly longer… but anyway, this length also works great. I often wear this dress in autumn or in winter with blue or wine color tights, depending of the color of the bow. I also wear the dress with high heels (to avoid the granny style hehehe!!). This dress has a very simple cut and design, it could even be a designer dress 🙂

This top corresponds to dress pattern #128 from the January 2010 Burda magazine.
