This skirt is the very first garment I made when I was learning to sew. I remember it like it was yesterday: I had 5 hours to make this skirt (compared to 1 hour max today). At the time, I didn’t know how to read a pattern; in fact, the truth is that reading a pattern “just freaked me out” (sorry, it’s more expressive in English). So I tried small projects that didn’t require a pattern.<\/p>\n

I therefore called this skirt “Length x Width” because it’s built on the basis of a rectangle:<\/p>\n

\u00b0For a size 36: 2 rectangles with the following dimensions: Length 67 cm x width 53 cm. (Seam allowances included. The length can remain the same for all sizes, but what will vary is the width: To know the width you should use, measure your hip circumference. Divide the number you get by 2, then add 10 cm. So (X\/2)+10.
\u00b0There is a casing (about 7 cm already included in the length mentioned above) for threading the elastic through the width of the fabric. To know what size elastic to use, I stretched it around my waist. Here I cut 77 cm for the elastic.
\u00b0Given that I didn’t want to get the trapezoid shape you see in the sketch below, I started sewing from the hips down, narrowing more and more as I reached the bottom of the skirt.<\/p>\n

Result:<\/strong> This skirt is really easy to make and is practical for work. I have a green one, a yellow one, a mauve one, and one in dusty rose.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
