I based this coat on pattern 110 from the March 2012 Burda magazine. This is actually the pattern I bought that month’s Burda for!

Fabric choice:<\/strong> My fabric seller on Rue d’Orsel (18th arrondissement), seeing me hesitate over the fabric, told me it came from a major fashion house (whose name I’ll keep quiet for fear of… what??? anyway. It’s better this way!). So I took this 3-meter piece. Note that it was originally meant for a cape, but actually no… I don’t think it would have been suitable enough for a cape project. <\/p>\n

The construction:<\/strong> For once, no modifications made! Far be it from me to be unfaithful!!! (truth be told I really lacked confidence… but anyway what would I have changed?!!). Well it’s true that for the seams I just did things my own way by attempting a double stitch<\/a> as a finish for the visible seams on the jacket. It really gives a professional effect. But the concentration I had for this jacket was insane!!! I’m telling you!!! Indeed, doing a double stitch<\/a> when YOU DON’T HAVE A DOUBLE NEEDLE on your machine… That’s tough! <\/p>\n

Result:<\/strong> A friend who’s a quality controller for LVMH told me: “Are you sure you made this jacket yourself? I don’t see any flaws.” Hey now!! <\/p>\n

About the fabric:<\/b> My favorite fabric seller on Rue d’Orsel (18th<\/sup>, Paris), saw me hesitating on whether or not to take this fabric. He told me that he had received it from one of the prestigious French fashion house. I decided to take 3 meters (yeah the “fashion house” thing helped). Please note that I was buying this fabric for a cape project, but just ended up deciding that the fabric would not be appropriate for a cape. <\/p>\n

About the realization:<\/b> For once, no modification was made by me! To be honest I was lacking a little confidence\u2026 But anyway, what could I have changed? OK.. I made a double needle stitch<\/a> for the finishing, and I should admit that the the stitches give it a true professional finishing. However, I was so very much concentrated for this type of stitching, because as you may know, doing a double needle stitch<\/a> with a single needle machine\u2026 can be tough! <\/p>\n
